UNDERGROUND-PAINTINGS In this project I am questioning the public space and the artists roll in the society. Since I have been in Chile several times. Santiagos colorful streetart had a huge influence on me. I saw things I have not seen before. A strong movement against those people and companies brainwashing the society with mass-commercial and lies. I felt that the art were alive and it had a bigger meaning than I have seen before. If an artist make a beautiful picture on a public wall with an important message you can get the police after you, but big companies and politicians who have lots of money can expose their messages. Mostly their messages is about buying useless stuff which works as a brainwashing-machine on the citizens. Because few persons are questioning this. What they practicly are saying is -if you can buy all this things you are a good humanbeing, and you will fit into this society and everybody will love you. Trademarks and consumption has become the new religion. I am questioning this by putting down commercial-posters on the subway and make my own messages on the backside of them. What if all artist could show their messages on the same spots where you usually see just commercial? |
